A good clean race

Andrew | 16 May, 2007 08:56 | (138)

I've got a busy weekend coming up. After the Needham Open Saturday, and working a night shift Sunday, I plan to run Soapstone on Sunday.

Soapstone is the fifth race in the Grand Tree series, run by the Shenipsit Striders of Connecticut. It's a 24K (14.5 miles for us Yanks), and last year's results suggest a moderately fast course... the top two guys finished with sub-seven minute mile paces. Mortals like myself may hope to finish with something in the neighborhood of a ten-minute pace, but with my first marathon coming up, I may try to take this one easy... we'll see. If I find any laying about, I may pick up a piece of soapstone. It's fun stuff to carve.

UPDATE - Not so busy now, the slalom race got scrubbed for crummy weather. They're going to try to run it Sunday. This is the second time I've signed up for a race, only to have it rained out... rotten luck, or perhaps I should take the hint?

Share and enjoy.
