Steve and I have been rehearsing for his upcoming show March 25 at Nashua High South, and we did a live spot on WERS's "The Playground" last Sunday to promote it.
I haven't been on the radio since I was at Macalester College, spinning records in the wee hours in St. Paul, MN, on a station with a broadcast range of about three miles. Playing djembe in a studio overlooking Boston Common was quite a step up! The March 25 show benefits the Nashua College Club, a group that provides scholarships for Nashua women. It's at 3:30 p.m., in the auditorium at Nashua High South, and I'd bet there should still be tickets available at the door. The kids at WERS were kind enough to give us CD copies of our set! Here is absolute proof that my musical modesty is well placed (I'm on djembe, harmonica, slide whistle and backing vocals). Steve wrote, sings and strums the songs. A chorus of girls -- Amber, Kara, Maija and Riley -- from the Academy of Movement Dance Studio in Nashua provided excellent backing vocals, along with a trio of Tiger Cub Scouts from Medford. Listen if you dare. WERS (88.9 FM) is a pretty cool station, BTW, with all sorts of excellent programming that you won't find anywhere else on the public airwaves.
The college club concert is at 3:30 pm, not 1 pm on the 25th. Great job on the radio yesterday!
I stand corrected! Boy, I'd have been way too early : ) Posted by: andrew | March 19, 2007, 14:56Add commentAbout Mesearcharchives
