coming in from the coldAndrew | 19 February, 2007 16:35 | (126)
Since I didn't exhaust the Potanipo trail system, I had plenty left in my legs, so we drove to the Eastman Meadow trailhead at Beaver Brook and ran for another 1.5 hours. I have no idea how far we went. It was slow going. It’s funny how hard it is to run on snow that’s semi-packed with other people’s footprints. I made fresh tracks, where possible. I had a grand time slogging around with my iPod. Some unfortunate snowshoer caught me bleating along with "Trenchtown Rock." “Coming in From the Cold” came on as we reached the car… a serendipitous touch. Since I’d taxed my legs a bit, I decided to try a little snow bath. Ice is supposed to be good for sore muscles, and what better way than to sit down in a snowy field on a sunny day? I stripped off my pants (I was wearing shorts, no worries), plunked down, and buried my legs. It felt good at first, then it stung a bit. I lost enthusiasm for the treatment after about four or five minutes, but I think it really helped. I also slept with longjohns during the night, to keep my legs extra warm, and they feel pretty good today. Add commentAbout Mesearcharchives
