Cheers to "Sherpa" John Lacroix, a former Manchester/Derry area guy now living and teaching high school out by the seacoast. SJ writes on Cool Running that he's recently signed up for his first (and second) 100 milers! I'd like to extend my range, but I can't wrap my head around running that far... of course, a year ago I found a marathon hard to imagine, too. John has signed on for the Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 Miler in Georgia as well as the Vermont 100. "I must be crazy," he wrote in his posting. Who am I to disagree? Sherpa John got into trail running in 2004, after hiking all 48 4,000-footers in the White Mountains, and producing a DVD documentary about it. His ultimate goal, he says, is to challenge a record set by Vermont's Tim Seaver in 2003, for 'bagging' all 48 peaks in three days, 15 hours and 51 minutes... SJ is a young pup, and seems pretty driven so I'd say he's got a good shot at it. Add commentAbout Mesearcharchives
