Carol Shea-Porter: Mom’s With Me Again!

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is not the only one who’s using the new media to leak out big news.
According to numerous media reports, Obama will disclose his choice for vice president via a mega-text message exclusively to her supporters.
NH Democratic Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter got into that act Monday by giving readers of the “Daily Kos,’’ a liberal blog, a sneak preview of her first TV ad that begins airing in the state on Thursday.
It was part of a daily diary the first-term Democrat will be compiling on the blog about her quest to keep the First District seat.
The two moves have blunt differences, of course.
Obama rewards with his news only those glued to his campaign web site who have signed up a special invitation to receive the text message.
Shea-Porter’s ad scoop is hardly with a NH centric audience, mostly made up of those in the US and around the world who can’t vote or do anything more than e-mail a check or upbeat note to the congresswoman.
BlueHampshire.com, a popular blog for NH’s left-wing, posted the ad on its web site earlier today.
Two years ago, the punditry class lampooned Shea-Porter’s only TV ad of the campaign that featured folksy testimony from her Republican mother.
Well, mom is back in the latest spot. Shea-Porter relates her campaign as a member of the House Armed Services Committee to get NH veterans full-service medical care for the only state that lacks a veterans hospital.
It’s classic Shea-Porter to try and take away a traditionally Republican stronghold issue.
Two years earlier, Republican Congresssman Jeb Bradley clung to his winning fight to keep open the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and that wasn’t enough to keep Shea-Porter from scoring her big upset.
