Anti-union group slams Shaheen

A group opposing a pending, federal labor rights bill took out full-page, daily newspaper ads Monday attacking Democratic Senate hopeful Jeanne Shaheen.

The group known as EmployeeFreedom.org is against a bill that lets a union organize by collecting pledge cards from employees rather than having to have a full vote of the work force by a secret ballot.

The group’s web site claims 28 percent of Shaheen’s campaign contributions last year [-] $128,000 [-] came from organized labor.

“Incredibly, she supports a federal bill that would force New Hampshire’s workers into labor unions by eliminating their right to the same private ballot vote.

The organization lists five members of Granite State Employee Freedom that includes former Republican State Rep. Kevin Attar and John Labombard, a longtime GOP activist from the Upper Valley region.

The same lobbying group aired television ads last month critical of Maine Senate Democratic candidate Tom Allen for his support of the bill.

The US House passed the measure and it’s pending in the Senate.

Sen. John E. Sununu, R-NH, has consistently opposed the bill.
