A hero’s hero

Republican candidate John McCain returned to another page out of his successful, 2000 New Hampshire primary winning playbook with a late mailing to GOP and independent households.
The mailing celebrates the right to vote with the emotional story of Mike Christian, McCain’s cellmate at the “Hanoi Hilton,” the Vietnam prison of war camp where McCain lived for more than five years.
Christian got beaten savagely by his captors by stitching together a makeshift American flag and having stitched inside his prison shirt.
“We must never forget those Americans, who with their courage, with their sacrifice, and with their lives, have protected our right to vote,” McCain concluded.
