Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani asked for and got the resignation of a New Hampshire veterans leader after John Deady made some bellicose remarks about Muslims.
Deady was co-chairman of New Hampshire Veterans for Rudy and praised Giuliani in The Guardian, a British newspaper, as the best candidate to attack "the rise of the Muslims."
"We need to … keep pressing these people until we defeat them or chase them back to their caves or in other words get rid of them,” Deady wrote Thursday.
The former New York mayor has had repeated problems with his team here as one state legislator said she was falsely put on his endorsement list and a Vermont resident and New Hampshire fire official said the same when his name showed up on a list of homeland security leaders for Giuliani.
This time, Giuliani deftly got the word out himself Saturday in advance of his return trip to the state today where he makes stops in Plymouth, Lincoln and Bretton Woods.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph confirmed Giuliani continued to pare back his TV ad budget aimed at New Hampshire voters.
Giuliani’s camp bought $95,000 worth of ads on WMUR between Jan. 2 and the primary on Jan. 8.
In the previous week, it bought nearly twice that much for commercials on WMUR.
McCain’s camp has bought $125,000 in NH TV ads for the final stretch while Romney will continue to outspend McCain by about a 2-1 margin.
The Sunday Telegraph reported a week ago on Giuliani’s decision to sharply reduce his ad buys on Boston TV.
