Indian Giver

Delaware Senator Joe Biden will get to fully recover from an ill-timed remark when he returns to New Hampshire Friday night.

The potential, 2008 presidential candidate hit the first pothole of the campaign in July when he made what sounded like an ethnically-insensitive remark regarding the career goals of Indian Americans.

I’ve had a great relationship. In Delaware, the largest growth in population is Indian-Americans moving from India. You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking," Biden said during a previous, first-primary state visit.

Trouble is, C-SPAN’s “Road to the White House’’ cameras were rolling and it touched off several uncomfortable media interviews for Biden in the coming days.

Biden returns to a Nashua Democratic City Committee fund-raiser at the Nashua Country Club.

And guess who’s bought a table?

The USA India Political Action Committee, that’s who.

House Deputy Democratic Leader Jane Clemons is not surprised.

“I know Joe Biden and he speaks his mind and sometimes extemporaneously. I do the same thing despite how much my children warn me not to,’’ Clemons said.

“I’m glad to see this because Senator Biden didn’t deserve any fallout from that.’’
