Greenback change for Green MonsterKevinLandrigan | 14 July, 2008 11:09 | (76)
CONCORD [-] Democratic Senate hopeful Jeanne Shaheen’s campaign is offering for $25 a chance to get two, choice seats atop the Green Monster at Fenway Park for a July 25 contest between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.
Shaheen hit it lucky with her game choice. In addition to this being the renewal of a storied baseball rivalry right after the All-Start break, the game is tentatively to be the return of David Ortiz who’s been on the disabled list with a nagging wrist injury. Anyone who donates $25 to Shaheen’s campaign automatically gets you a chance at the tickets and for each additional $25 you get another chance. The online contest ends Friday at midnight. Last fall, then-Democratic presidential candidate Chris Dodd's campaign violated Major League Baseball regulations in trying to auction off a pair of Red Sox playoff tickets. Civic club raffles for regular season ducats, however, are commonplace.
