Margarita’s cures Mexican cravings

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Sometimes there is nothing better than a salty margarita on the rocks and some good Mexican grub to go along with it. So the other night when I was craving the combination of the two, I was extremely satisfied with the meal and drinks I enjoyed with an old friend at Margarita’s Mexican Restaurant in Nashua. The restaurant had a wait, but my friend and I opted to eat in the bar area that’s atmosphere was just as relaxed as the rest of the restaurant. Though I normally am an original margarita girl, my friend persuaded me to try the Pomegranate Margarita, which, without the sugar on the rim of the glass, was perfectly tart and sweet with enough tequila to make anyone fall of their bar stool. For dinner, I ordered another margarita (those suckers go down fast) as well as the Quesadilla Extravaganza with chicken, tomatoes, green chiles, and cheese. Served with sour cream and the completely necessary guac, the otherwise mundane quesadilla was perfectly crispy on the edges and chocked full of slightly spicy goodness.

Margarita’s also celebrates the Full Moon each month with a big party at their locations, where 5% of the lounge sales for the night go to a local charity. Prizes are given away, too; the next bash is Monday, Feb. 9th.

Denny’s serves free breakfast until 2 p.m. today

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Although I prefer to be an advocate of local restaurants versus chains, free food is free food, right? Until 2 p.m. today, Denny’s is giving away free Grand Slams at all of its locations. The Grand Slam breakfast includes two pancakes, two eggs, two strips of bacon, and two sausage links. If that isn’t enough free food for you, Denny’s is also giving customers the option to “Slam it Up” by adding any two additional items for only 99 cents each. I can’t boast about how good the food will taste, as I have eaten Denny’s breakfast before; but I am sure the food tastes all the better when it’s free.
