Okay all you marg heads out there, your holiday is here. Monday (ugh) is the ode to all things spicy and tart. Sound sexy? You bet. It's Cinco de Mayo and who cares if the closest you come to Mexican relations is the La Minita coffee beans in your freezer, Mexican independence day is spring's answer to St. Pats (only w/ better food). The BIG question is where to get your Chimichanga on? As I see it Nashua has three great options: La Carreta, La Hacienda Del Rio and my fav. Margaritas. Why pick a universal chain? That's simple: the setting. Perched above the roaring Merrimack River in a cool old brick mill, Margaritas' has good feng shui. Now this may not matter after a few cuervo golds, but I think it does. I know there are great eats to be had on the Danny Web (and I plan to out them all on this blog), but sometimes you want to dine in a mall-free zone. Plus, I love the chips at Margaritas — served warm and slightly salty. Their salsas is the perfect blend of cilantro and tomatoes. Confession: I haven't eaten at La Hacienda, what do you guys reccommend? I like the bright ambiance of La Carreta, which recently expaneded its Manch Vegas location, and their fajitas are as tasty as they come. But let's face it, it's not too hard to flub Mexican food. Just use fresh ingredients, lots of beans and smother the sucker in melted cheese. Yum! I have a nagging feeling I'm overlooking some great little finds. Amigos in Milford has a grilled chorizo sausauge seved w/ peppers and onions and ranchero sauce that sounds intriguing. They go the extra mile w/ Mexican mac and cheese and Mexican meatloaf. I cant vouch for em, but points given for going beyond the gringo basics. What's your favorite salsa joint? Help me launch a summer-long quest of lassoing the best margaritas in SONH. Where to begin?
