Tired of the usual cuisine, and in dyer need of some good old fashioned southern cooking? The closest thing to southern fried chicken, besides KFC, is Chicken ‘N Chips on West Hollis Street. May I add, that KFC doesn’t come close to competing with Nashua’s bred restaurant! I dinned at Chicken ‘N Chips the other day, and found that I was pleased.

Commenting on restaurant chains' seasonal menus will not be a trend for me, but, coincidentally, I tried some of the 99 Restaurant's summer desserts while I was there for lunch early last week. Normally, I'm a huge fan of the 99...the big, juicy burgers; large, ice cold beers; and of course, the free popcorn. However, their new summer desserts are anything to be desired.

While on my travels, I stumbled upon a quaint Cantonese restaurant called New Lucky Panda. Conveniently located on 2 Pauls Way in Amherst, New Lucky Panda is a Chinese restaurant unlike any other. Immediately, I was enthralled by the hospitality, as Andy Mei, the manager of the restaurant, greeted me with a friendly hello, and an amazing sense of humor. Andy was most helpful; he even kindly suggested the restaurant’s "specialty" Cantonese and Szechwan dishes. Boy, did I feel right at home!

One of the perfect restaurants to quench those summer hunger pains is undoubtedly Chili’s. Every time I go there, I order the same meal: The Triple Dipper with two sides of their mouth-watering Crispy Honey-Chipotle Chicken Crispers, along with a side of Southwestern egg rolls. This dish is as invigorating and delicious as it sounds—the crispy chicken fingers are fried to perfection, tossed with Chili’s world famous spicy honey-chipotle sauce.

It’s easy to see why Papa Romano’s has been in business for well over 38 years, and counting. . . I personally detest chain restaurants, but there’s nothing like a good slice of Papa Romano’s pizza, accompanied by a Super Italian Sub. I experienced the best of Papa Romano’s pizza today when I dug into the "Chicken Margarita." This specialty pie is adorned with grilled chicken breast, heapings of Mozzarella Cheese, Roma tomatoes, and basil garlic sauce. Yum!

There's a restaurant hiding in Amherst....and it's time to let the people know about it. Eden Restaurant in Salzberg Square off Route 101 is, literally, easy to miss. I myself drove past it 3 times before realizing where it was. However, once you walk in, you are taken to a posh, comfortably upscale eatery where customer service and generous martinis await you.

It's a balmy 67 degress at Hampton Beach right now and nothing tastes better than a clam roll on the water. The Sea Ketch on the strip has a great third-floor deck that welcomes beachcombers of all appetites. No matter how refined your palate, there's always one day in the summer when you just have to have fried clams.

And this one's got posh ganache. Swan Chocolates is relocating its Merrimack HQ's to a new space in a few weeks. What does this mean for you and me? The makers of killer truffles and great cappuccinos will be uping its espresso ante, adding more pastries and a huge gelato case with (you got it) more wonderful flavors of gelato. Sorry, Susan's Euro Cafe, but Swans' Italian custard kicks ass. Can I say that on a blog? Located on the Danny Web in a former market next to Buckley's Great Steaks, Swan's new cafe will have a porch for outdoor indulging making this THE summer hang for all things decadent. And if ya like brownies, a Tasmanian dark is in the works as I type. I hear the employees at Swan are encouraged to eat as much chocolate as they wish and receive chocolate samplers w/ their paycheck. If it wasn't for the automatic 5 lbs.to the hips, I'd be all about a job change right now. But that's right, chocolate is good for you. Anyone excited by this new development?
