Pres. Myers: DWC will not become ITT Nashua

Filed under Nashua by michael brindley at 7:50 pm

After sending out an e-mail Thursday morning to staff and faculty announcing the sale of Daniel Webster College to ITT Educational Services, President Robert “Skip” Myers felt it was necessary to send out a clarifying e-mail later in the day.

In the e-mail, Myers stressed that the college and ITT will be separate entities. Here is the full text of the e-mail:

Dear Daniel Webster College students, faculty, staff and alumni:

President

A number of you have raised the question about the nature and value of the Daniel Webster College degree as a result of the announcement this morning.

I want to be absolutely clear on three points:

1.       Daniel Webster College is not becoming ITT Technical Institute.  In fact, ITT Educational Services, Inc. has decided to acquire Daniel Webster College because of what and who we are: a four-year, regionally-accredited, small, New England-based residential college.

2.       Daniel Webster College becomes a separate, wholly-owned subsidiary of ITT Educational Services.  What does this mean:  Daniel Webster College remains just that—you will not see ITT on campus or on our materials.  ITT Educational Services, Inc.’s strategy is to keep the two brands separate and distinct.

3.       Your education, and your degree, will be provided by Daniel Webster College, and as the academic and financial vitality continues to increase, so too will the value of your degree, and the degrees of all the alumni who have preceded you.

If you have any further questions about this issue, please contact me directly.

Sincerely,

Robert E. Myers, Ph.D.
