Hanover heads to Orlando

The Hanover High School baseball team will play three games in the Orlando, Fla., area this week. How is that legal under NHIAA rules? Because the Marauders haven’t opened the season yet.
The team flew out Sunday and plays two games today and another game on Wednesday before returning to open the season on Monday at Bishop Brady in Concord.
To make the school vacation trip possible, Hanover has condensed it’s schedule, playing its 16-game regular-season schedule in 32 days. They have scheduled May doubleheaders with Kingswood of Wolfeboro and Laconia.
The Class I baseball coaches are sending out a weekly newsletter, organized by Souhegan baseball coach Bill Dod.
This week’s Player of the Week is Taylor MacDonald of St. Thomas in Dover, who hit .545 last week with three home runs, two doubles and seven RBIs in games against Dover, Oyster River and Portsmouth.
The Rookie of the Week was Souhegan sophomore Matt Schagrin, who had a game-tying home run in a victory over Milford and was the winning pitcher in a victory over Con-Val.
Three of this week’s games of the week involve Hollis/Brookline. The Cavaliers travel to Plymouth today, play at Milford on Wednesday and host defending champion Portsmouth on Friday.
