Welcome to tiebreak heaven

Some ties are easier to break than others, so you have to love the four-way tie for sixth at 11-7 in the final Class L boys basketball standing. That is, unless you’re Nashua South.
Of the four team, the Panthers will be the only ones hitting the road on Wednesday for the opening round of the Class L Tournament. The teams, Winnacunnet of Hampton, Manchester West, Bishop Guertin and South all played each other once, and the first tie-breaker is head-to-head.
Winnacunnet went 3-0 against the other schools involved to get sixth. Bishop Guertin was 2-1 and gets the seventh seed. West was 1-2 and will host South, which was 0-3, in the No. 8 and No. 9 bracket, with the winner most likely headed for a quarterfinal date at top-ranked 17-1 Trinity.
Alvirne and Londonderry finished tied for 12th at 8-10. The nod goes to Alvirne because it beat Londonderry. The Broncos appear headed to No. 5 Pinkerton on Wednesday night, while Londonderry goes to Manchester Central.
The tie for 10th at 10-8 between Dover and Exeter goes to the Green Wave for its regular-season win over the Blue Hawks. The three-way tie for 14th was also pretty simple. Spualding gets the 14th spot and an invitation to No. 3 Memorial on Wednesday by virtue of its 2-0 record vs Keene and Timberlane. Timberlane beat Keene and gets the 15th spot, with the Blackbirds headed to Trinity on Wednesday.
It’s all unofficial, of course. The toughest tiebreaker was for the third spot between Memorial, Central and Pinkerton. It came down to a strength of schedule formula based on the quality of wins of beaten opponents. Several sources give the unofficial not to Memorial, with Central fourth and Pinkerton fifth.
So the totally unofficial opening round matchups are:
No. 16 Keene at No. 1 Trinity
No. 15 Timberlane at No. 2 Salem
No. 14 Spaulding at No. 3 Memorial
No. 13 Londonderry at No. 4 Central
No. 12 Alvirne at No. 5 Pinkerton
No. 11 Exeter at No. 6 Winnacunnet
No. 10 Dover at No. 7 Bishop Guertin
No. 9 Nashua South at No. 8 West
