Home court? Hold on

With the first two rounds of the Class L boys basketball tournament at the home of the higher seeds this year, it would seem a huge advantage for teams finishing in the top four. But so far, four of the top five teams have played better on the road.
Top ranked Trinity is unbeaten at home, but the next four teams, Pinkerton Academy, Manchester Memorial, Manchester Central and Salem are a combined 15-10 at home and an astounding 26-1 away from home.
Who you play at home and who you play on the road is a factor, but it should eventually even out. Two-time defending champion Salem is currently 2-3 at home and 8-0 on the road. Memorial is 3-3 at home and 7-0 on the road. Central and Pinkerton have both lost twice at home. Pinkerton is 7-0 on the road. Central is 4-1.
One team which would love to earn a top eight spot and be home in the opening round is Bishop Guertin. The Cardinals are 6-1 at home so far and 1-5 on the road. At 7-6, they are currently one game behind the three teams tied for seventh at 8-5, Exeter, Manchester West and Winnacunnet.
