Forget $14 million quarterback, it appears Matt Cassel is now a stand up comedian.

The USA Today’s Game On Blog was all over what can only be described as a verbal gaffe during Monday’s press conference in Kansas City.

During his Q& A with the Missouri media, Matt Cassel fielded this question: “Do you plan on meeting with Bernard Pollard at all?” Yes, the same Pollard that injured Tom Brady and opened the door for Cassel to become an NFL starting quarterback. Yes, the same Pollard that Cassel’s then-teammates (most vocally Randy Moss) were calling a cheap-shot artist.

Cassel’s response:

“Oh gosh. Now he is a teammate and I know that it wasn’t intentional. Nobody likes to see anybody go down, I’m sure including himself. I will talk to him and say hello, say thank you for the opportunity, but you never want to see anybody get hurt out there.”

Was this the best answer Cassel could come up with, or was he trying to be funny? Either way, Cassel may wish he had a mulligan during press conferences. Audio of the press conference can be heard on the Chiefs home page.

Surprisingly nobody in the Boston media really jumped on this answer. Maybe it’s a question for Tom Brady when he returns to Foxborough, Mass. We’ll have to wait and see.

With the Boston Celtics enjoying a recent day off, the Boston Globe decided to follow Glen “Big Baby” Davis around town.

If only I could show you the picture of Davis getting his nails done. Yes, the big baby got a manicure. Hopefully he won’t chip a nail in the paint. Check out the Globe’s Web site, it’s worth it just to see this one pic.
