So I just get back from my my salon in Hudson and talked to Shelly, the owner and stylist supreme. We talked about the gray thing. Unlike her mom, Penny, who wasn't too keen on my going gray, Shelly is willing to explore the possibilities. And she has a great idea. Instead of putting in lowlights, she's going to take the rest of my hair and put it through a cap and make some pieces as light as possible so they'll blend with the gray. Sounds like a plan, but still freaks me out. I intend to share all the trials and tribs as well as the ghastly photos. According to some of the forums http://www.realself.com/blog/celebrities-gray-hair.htmlI've read out there a lot of the women say it's the other women in their lives that don't want them to go gray. Those who have taken the plunge say men flirt with them more. I find this hard to believe but I did read an article in More magazine in which a 40-something reporter went out with her brown hair and not one guy hit on her, but when she wore a gray wig, all these guys couldn't stay away from her. you have to wonder, are these guys into the mommy thing or do they believe that the widsom that comes with age is somehow hot?
I think, well from what I heard, is that Clay Aiken likes gray-haired ladies, as a matter of fact he's been chased by the papparazzi many times as he was caught making out with them in a taxi cab. So, if you want to go gray, go CLAY. Posted by: sizzy | February 03, 2008, 16:57
Sizzy, let's hope you're right. From what I've seen at his concerts it's certainly true. Posted by: yosis | February 04, 2008, 16:58
Gray haired ladies are safe...or so they think. I know some pretty wild gray haired ladies :) Posted by: monika | February 06, 2008, 18:59
I'm going to grow out my natural gray too! I've done this once before but didn't take as good care of it as I know how to now. I found my first gray at 12 and started dying it immediately. I am over 50% gray and only 36 years old. I have been very gray since my early 20's.
Hi Dina, I'm still trying to figure out a way to post the pix. I was all gray at 25, so to me you're a youngster. If you try, so will I. Thanks for the comment Posted by: StacyM | February 13, 2008, 12:23
I just finished Going Gray by Anne Kreamer. Wonderful book full of research that I would never have thought of. Seems gray hair is alot more accepted socially than I'd thought! I just ordered Going Gray, Looking Great! and will let you know if it's a good read.
I started a yuwie club if anyone is interested...http://clubs.yuwie.com/wisdomstrands/ Posted by: Dina | April 01, 2008, 12:24Add comment
