The media waited a while for Wes Welker to return to his locker after Sunday’s 27-21 win over the Baltimore Ravens, but it wasn’t close to the wait Welker endured the last couple of weeks while bothered by a sore knee. The receiver admitted after the game he wasn’t 100 percent sure he would play the morning of the game, although fairly close to that.
“I felt good about it this week,” he said. “But there’s always making sure you’re ready to go. But I felt good about it today.”
And what was it like sitting on the sidelines the last two weeks/
“It’s been really hard, really hard,” Welker said of missing the previous two games. “it’s been tough. It’s very encouraging to get back out there.”
To no one’s real surprise, it appears Patriots receiver Joey Galloway is a healthy scratch for today’s game with the Baltimore Ravens. Galloway has had an admittedly difficult time grasping the offense, and even Wes Welker clone rookie Julian Edelman has looked better than the 13-year veteran. But we get the real Wes Welker today, and he [...]
There weren’t many Patriots talking at their lockers on Wednseday morning but when they did, they echoed Bill Belichick’s sentiments about one of his favorite players, Ed Reed.
“He’s a rare, rare player that that (safety) position,” Belichick said, calling Reed “a great football player…I don’t think there’s anybody better, probably anybody, who can disguise his [...]
Fred Taylor certainly looked like a good investment on the part of the New England Patriots on Sunday, didn’t he?
Indeed, thanks to Taylor’s 105 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries, the Patriots didn’t even miss back Laurence Maroney, who left the game for good in the first half with a thigh injury after 17 [...]
Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker will miss his second straight game as he was listed as inactive for today’s game with Atlanta. The guess is that despite some optimism earlier he might play, the wet conditions here at Gillette have forced the Patriots to be cautious.
Also joining Welker on the inactive list, besides LB Jerod [...]
What happened in the Patriots comeback win over the Bills? Simple. They had their leader back, and he seemed to make a difference down the stretch.
“Well, anytime you have a guy like Tom (quarterback Brady) and uh, I think that the reporters here locally don’t really get to see after practice when the defense beats [...]
Running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis, as well as early preseason sensation Julian Edelman headed the list of inactives for Monday night’s season opener with Buffalo at Gillette Stadium.
Edleman, the rookie wide receiver/return man, was suffering from a sore ankle. Green-Ellis, meanwhile, joined offensive linement Rich Ohrnberter and Kendall Simmons as healthy scratches.
Other inactives included wideout Matthew [...]
After limited participation in practice all week due to a knee problem, Patriots receiver Wes Welker was listed as questionable on the final pre-game injury report. That means there’s a 50-50 chance he may not play, although that would indeed be a surprise.
Meanwhile, cornerback Shawn Springs, who may know Buffalo receiver Terrell Owens as well [...]
It was back to regular season work as the Patriots had their first Wednesday media scramble in preparation for the Monday Night season opener vs. the Buffalo Bills
As expected, quarterback Tom Brady spoke about his excitement to start the season — not necessarily return from being out a year after knee surgery.
“This is when the [...]
Somehow yours truly had this gnawing feeling that Bill Belichick was going to pull off another shocker. The thinking was it might be Ben Watsoin. But in the last five months, gone are Richard Seymour, Tedy Bruschi (both in the last week), Rodney Harrison and Mike Vrabel. It’s called the remaking of a defense.
Was the [...]
