			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>OK - &#8216;rock&#8217; may be over stating the case, but we did do quite well in the New England Associated Press News Editors Association contest Friday night. The Telegraph won 26 awards for writing, design, photography and Web. I was proudest of the first-place the Web site received for &#8216;reader engagement&#8217; which recognized our efforts in offering comments, forums, multimedia and other interactive features. <p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;</p>
<p>CONCORD – The Telegraph was recognized with 26 awards – including 10 for first place – at the New England Associated Press News Executive Association&#8217;s annual fall conference Friday night at the Grappone Center.</span></p>
<p>The more than two-dozen awards represents the most ever received by The Telegraph in this contest in recent memory. Staff photographer Corey Perrine was responsible for 13 of those awards in the photography and multimedia categories.</p>
<p>The Telegraph was also given a special Right-to-Know award for its Sunshine Week coverage.</p>
<p>The Telegraph&#8217;s six-part In Transition series of stories that examined the state&#8217;s transgender community was recognized for its writing, photography and multimedia.</p>
<p>&#8220;A deft hand with many essential details makes this series of stories the winner,&#8221; the judges wrote.</p>

Business/Consumer News:</strong> David Brooks and Ashley Smith for coverage of FairPoint Communications Inc.&#8217;s acquisition of Verizon&#8217;s land operations in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.<strong><br />
Sports story: </strong>George Scione for an article that examined the dilemma faced by coaches in anticipation of the planned Nashua Teachers Union strike earlier this year.<strong><br />
Page One design:</strong> Andrew Toland for &#8220;Primary 2008.&#8221;<br />
<strong> Illustration:</strong> David Ferreira for &#8220;Wish list.&#8221;<br />
