Bright and girly

With the new year, comes new fashion ideas and more things that I find myself wanting. This year is no exception.
Color (and lots of it) keep catching my eye along with girly, frilly pieces. Here are some things that I think would be an asset to any wardrobe this year.
Rainbows: I said I’m big on color this year and what has more color in it than a rainbow? Not to mention, they match just about everything since so many colors are included.
You can go retro or more mod with the style, just be careful not to go overboard on the retro or else you’ll end up looking like a child dressed you.
These necklaces are a little bit of both and only cost $12.
Floral dresses: I know, I’m about a year late on this one, but as I said, I’m on a girly kick.
This ’60s-inspired style can be worn just about anywhere dressed up or down.
Same goes for this Karen Zamos Vintage Couture olive floral chiffon tunic dress on Bluefly.
This vintage style would make a great work dress.
Frilly blouses with lots of ruffles: This trend has also been going on for some time but paired with the big, baggy men’s trousers that are in for spring, it keeps the look work smart and somewhat toned down.
This sweet, tuxedo-style would works great with jeans.
Or for a more dress-up look, try a blouse like this one with extra-big ruffles.
Peacock feathers: Spruce up a simple T with a little embellishment like this one from Nordstrom for $36.90.
Or you can liven up a fancy hairdo with a plumage headband like this one from Barneys for $35.
Patterned/fishnet leggings: Living in New England, tights or leggings are a necessity if you are going to wear skirts or dresses in the winter. But why be boring?
These black-patterned tights from Forever 21 for $8.80 are still muted enough to wear to work.
If you want something more over the top, try these leopard print leggings for $12.80.
