This, that and a little schoolhouse charm

As part of my effort to visit local thrift and consignment shops, I stepped foot somewhere I hadn’t been in quite a while – church. The Pilgrim Church thrift shop at 4 Watson St. The shop is located around the right side of the building tucked into a corner. There’s one inconspicuous sign making note of the shopping area in the church’s basement, which used to house classrooms.
There’s less hustle and bustle here than there is at the Grey Nun’s shop. Probably because Watson Street, which is off of Amherst Street near Henri Burque Highway, is further away from downtown.
This shop still has plenty to offer though and because it’s a little more out of the way, items are less likely to be picked over. Items were arranged in an organized boutique style with the last room filled with extra discounted items.
The Pilgrim thrift shop marks the items for sale with colored tags. The shop then designates a certain color tag for extra discount.
The gem at this shop (no pun intended) was the selection of jewelry in the front room. There’s a large selection of earrings, necklaces and brooches.
The shop is open Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
