Be a mama's boy (or girl)

It’s Friday. Mother’s Day is two days away, but you’ve been busy, which means you’ve had no time to shop for mom or make dinner reservations.

Now is not the time to panic.

Here are some quick and cheap ideas to make mom happy – and a few to keep her fashionable.

n Aviator sunglasses with mirror lenses. A little 80s retro and super hot. I plan on making these a staple in my summer wardrobe and mom should, too.

n Pick up some cute herb planters at House by the Side of the Road in Wilton and plant a few of her favorite herbs in them. They won’t be flourishing by Mother’s Day, but she’ll be thinking of you when she’s cooking homemade meals well into the summer, and hopefully you can reap some of the benefits of this gift.

n A big purse in a bright color like this one from Target to carry all her mom items: sunglasses, wallet, keys, band-aids, tissues, snacks, etc.

n Make infused olive oil in fancy bottles. Check out the shelves of Goodwill or Salvation Army for old cool looking bottles. Fill them with olive oil then add a mixture of spices. Some to try include garlic, rosemary, basil, hot peppers or peppercorns.

n If you’re really hard up for cash, then try making mom her favorite meal for dinner. Give her fine dining services and include a fresh bouquet of flowers picked by you.
