Two more rings

Alan | 18 April, 2008 17:53 | (49)

They will best be remembered as principals in one of the more dubious trades in Red Sox history, but OF David Murphy and LHP Kason Gabbard now own 2007 World Series championship rings.

Murphy has established himself as the Texas Rangers left fielder and carries a .305 average into this weekend's series at Fenway. Gabbard, 1-0 with a 2.41 ERA, is down to start Monday morning's Patriots Day game.

Gabbard made seven appearances for the 2007 Red Sox, going 4-0. Murphy appeared in two games, with one hit in two at bats.

The trade in which they were shipped to Texas? For those who have succeeded in putting it out of their minds, it was the deal in which RHP Eric Gagne came to the Red Sox.
